(We had an unannounced inspection of the nursery this week and the results are outstanding. At the moment we are the only nursery in Wales to get Excellent for all areas of inspection).

  • Just a little note to say thank you for the wonderful start you and your staff have given Sonny over the past eighteen months.  He has loved his time at Redhill and we will be sad to say goodbye as he makes the transition to 'big boy school'.  We cannot express just how grateful we are as the care and guidance he has received from you all has been evident in his development. He never fails to amaze us with the things he learns at nursery and we love reading about his day and the new experiences he has had.  We are confident that Sonny has had the best possible start in his education and for that we are extremely grateful.

Introduction to
Redhill Montessori Nursery

‘Education is a natural process carried out by the child and is not acquired by listening to words but by experiences in the environment.’ Maria Montessori.

A warm welcome awaits you when visiting the nursery.  We aim to offer a well planned daily routine which reflects commitment to quality and care of the children within the nursery.  Our Montessori ethos encourages children to initiate their own learning to gain knowledge and develop new skills.  Our Montessori planning incorporates Foundation Phase requirements.

The children in Redhill Montessori Nursery benefit from the safe, secure extensive indoor and all year round outdoor play facilities. This begins to nurture their understanding of the turn of the seasonal clock. We also have extensive woodlands and a large lawned areas. Within the enclosed nursery garden children grow a variety of produce which provide healthy snacks throughout the day. We also sell their produce whilst supporting their ‘entrepreneurial skills’ in our outdoor community shop. Fun outdoor play equipment caters for all ages in the nursery.

We recognise the uniqueness of each child and the importance the prepared environment has in allowing children to reach their full potential. Our calm rooms are divided into spacious areas of learning/care and include:

* Sleep room

* Cygnet’s room with sensorial area and baby coracles

* Swan’s room

* Hatchling’s and Nurture rooms

* Two communal eating areas

* Nursery classroom with indoor and outdoor learning environments

* Art studio

* Sensory room

As educationalists, we know that the early years are vital in forming a solid foundation as part of a child’s successful development – the journey starts here.  In order to maintain the highest standard of provision, all staff spend time planning stimulating topics, evaluating the work of the previous week and planning activities for the following month based on each child’s individual needs. Our Montessori materials support children’s desire to learn independently and encourages them to understand about managing their own time whilst our qualified nursery Montessori specialists and qualified nursery assistants can guide children where needed.

We can care on a daily basis for a total of up to 50 children aged 0-4 yrs.  As part of our belief in ‘quality of provision’ we have strict adult:child ratios in place with children under the age of two having 1:3, two to three year olds 1:4 and our three to four year olds 1:8. Our under twos classrooms have no more than nine children per room.  Our Hatchling and Nurture classrooms have no more than eight children per room whilst our nursery class has up to sixteen children on a daily basis.

Our Nursery Manager, Mrs Karen Deluca NNEB, Montessori Diploma, is responsible for the overall supervision of the nursery team who include two Deputy Managers, Montessori specialists and Nursery Assistants who are all qualified with either NVQ III, Diploma III, Early Years teaching degrees or Montessori Teaching certificates. Mrs Deluca is the first person that parents report to for any queries regarding financial concerns.  The nursery is open from 8.00am – 6.00pm Monday to Friday, all year round, except for the Christmas holidays, Bank holidays and Inset Training days.  We offer Term Time care only for teachers should they require this facility. We are primarily an English speaking nursery with Welsh speaking staff who can support children whose first language is Welsh. These staff are situated throughout the nursery.  We provide a full cooked lunch and snacks at 10.45am, 2.15pm and 4.30pm.

FULL DAY       8.00am – 6.00pm

SCHOOL DAY 9.00am – 3.15pm

MORNING        8.00am – 1.00pm (includes lunch for children ready for school dinners)

AFTERNOON 1.00pm – 6.00pm (excluding lunch)

For parents who want their child to share our experiences here at Redhill Montessori Nursery, we encourage an initial visit to meet the staff and children and get a feel for the ethos and learning environment.  This will also allow our Nursery Manager to go through Registration Forms, Terms and Conditions, nursery policies and Care Plans for younger children thus ensuring open communication between the nursery and yourselves.

We hope your child will have a really happy time at Redhill Montessori Nursery, and together in partnership with you we strive to give the best possible start to their education.
